Summer’s Goldfinches and Blackbirds

Some of my favourites sights and sounds of summer are flocks of Goldfinch and busy Blackbirds. Both are songbirds and produce complex, fluid songs with Goldfinches excitably babbling and the Blackbird singing like a flute from the rooftops at dusk in summer. And the collective noun for a flock of Goldfinches may be one of the most delightful of all - a 'charm'. I love to spot these birds in gardens, allotments and while I’m out in the countryside on my bike.
